My Jobs Throughout the Years

Hi there! I'm Heather and I'm currently 26 years old. I've had a handful of jobs so far and here's a little blurb of them.

My first job was a resident assistant (RA) for college kids. Primarily college freshman. I would usually be over 40+ students on a floor. This meant I was on call on some days, some days working the desk, some days making programs, and some days answering college questions since I've been there at least a year. This was 2 years

My next job came as a summer job. I was a camp counselor back in my hometown. This was before my final year of undergrad. While it wasn't for me, I still got to help kids have fun for the summer. I usually helped with 3rd through 5th grade students. We did activities outside, went to the public pool, and had some field trips with them.

My next job was a community advisor or CA. This also falls into the RA duties except now I am over RAs yet still report to the Hall Directors. So typically I was helping newer RAs come in and figure to do things while I did my other duties. Still lived by myself but did not have a floor to worry about. This was a year with covid.

The next job I had was a research assistant for my masters. I was a researcher for well fields in Tennessee. I looked at modern water leakage in a well field. Meaning younger water (usually detected by Tritium) enters the water supply and can contaminate. This was 2 years

In between graduating with my masters and looking for my "big girl" job, I was a substitute teacher for a school in my hometown. I had the classes and GPA so they emergency certified me to sub for classes. Which was a big help since the time I was working, a lot of illness was going around. So I subbed quite frequently. This was for 6 months.

Finally I am currently a geologist with a state EPA. I currently work in Groundwater with groundwater regulation and coal ash sites. My expertise keeps growing as I work here and I'm constantly learning. There are times it can be frustrating but it works out helping people and the environment in the end. I have been here for a year and a half.

I don't know what my next adventures will lead me but here I go onto the next!
