Washington Park, Springfield Illinois
Washington Park has become a favorite Park for me to visit from time to time. It is large enough for me to get some steps in while also taking in some scenery. I find Washington Park an easy walk with some hills to work muscles.
Washington Park is my favorite park to go to after a long day. It allows me to get my mind off the bustle of the day and breathe in fresh air. I like to use my walking time to also write on this blog. When my mind is clear from the bustle and filled with nature, I feel like the words come easier for writing.
The area I tend to take a moment and write is at the fountain. I am sitting on a bench when taking photos. I find this area peaceful because a lot of walkers walk by the area and not many others tend to pause in this area. It makes it quite quaint to sit at and also able to people watch. This area is after I walk up a few hills so I tend to take a break for my legs.
Interesting enough, I have not explored all of this park. There is a part that connects to the main road and I have not found where that connects to this part. I have also found a "richer" area that connects to the park and I do not know where that leads to. One day, I need to explore all of the park. Just walk and see where I end up.
There are many types of animals at the park. From geese, ducks, turtles, herons, bees, deer, and many more. It's quite fun to go to the park and see what animals you encounter for the day. I tend to run into multiple animals at the park. My favorite are the ducks because they are cute when they swim and quack. The geese can be either mean or nice. They do tend to hiss when you are in the area of them. It can even be a few feet away and they will still hiss at you.
This is a little summary of my favorite park. I plan to visit more parks to see what else I find out. But this is like a safe space for me to go and meander after a long day of work.
