Writing My First Book During My Thesis

One risk that I took that comes to my mind is that I decided to write my first book during my thesis. As you look at my site, you'll come across the book called The Power of the Betrayed.

This book started in 2022 when I was writing my thesis on modern water recharge in groundwater. While I do love science and the study of the geochemistry, I needed a break from writing 20+ pages of a report.

So, thus started my book The Power of the Betrayed. I knew I wanted a romantic fantasy story or romantasy with slow burn. I love reading about a couple being pulled apart and pushed together until the right moment.

The title came around later when I was writing the story focusing on the main character's growth. The idea that the world your parents tell you about is not what it seems. That the reality is something completely different. In my book, it hits a lot harder which feels like betrayal. Hence, The Power of the Betrayed.

I wont go into too many details about the book as when I started it during my thesis, I had no clue what I was doing. I was winging it. I knew I wanted to publish a book on Amazon at least. I wanted to write something that I would be proud of.

While I did not finish my book till after graduate school, it stayed with me. This experience was something fun to do and I saw a big payoff in my eyes. I got to share my writing to the world on top of make a few sales. It was gratifying! And I would not have done it if I did not take the risk in graduate school.
